Our Foals - like opening a box of chocolates, you never know what you´ll get!

Babies of any species are endearing, but nothing more so than a horse. We are blessed with them to teach us patience, forgiveness and tolerance. Appaloosa babies are long-lived and able to perform many endeavors. Each one is special and awaiting their arrival is like opening a box of chocolates - you never know what you´re going to get! When you take one into your life you are taking a special companion for all of your life.

2010 will see the birth of the first 100% FOUNDATION TRUE APPALOOSA here in Spain, and quite possibly in Europe.

Our beautiful Eagles Moonmist Onyx is in foal to Kiss My Finest Heart. This baby will no-doubt have correct conformation and lots of colour. Due to the late arrival of the mares the foal is not due until the end of July.

MIA Bearpaws AU Anni was also in foal. But as our paddocks are a haven for other wildlife as well our horses (rabbits, pheasants, grouse) the hunters took advantage of our ´Paddock Paradise´ and at dusk one day scared the wits out of our herds and Anni lost her foal! Words can´t express my frustration at their ignorance, never mind their invasion of our property!

Fingers crossed she will produce the beautiful foal we know she can next year.

As I talk of equine babies I would like to take the opportunity to share my thoughts on why our human babies can only benefit in the positive if they grow up with horses. Being around horses, or any animal, teaches them responsibility, patience, values, good morals and improves their self-esteem. It makes them realise that hard work has its rewards and good things don´t come easily but when goals are achieved they are well deserved.
