Few have the luxury of another horse to ride whilst their mount makes the transition to sound barefoot. For others circumstance dictate that their horse although able to recover it´s natural hoof mechanism and therefore be so much healthier, will never have rock-crushing hooves. This is where hoof boots step in.

I have tried a few myself when transitioning horses and came up against varying problems with fit or durability for example, which encouraged me to pursue complete barefoot soundness. But I always kept on the look out for ´the´ hoof boot as you just never know when you might need them! Long winters with lots of mud can be a reason why a otherwise sound horse needs boots for a while, until his soles harden up again.

Not everyone can keep their horse in a large paddock with daily movement helping to maintain the callous of the sole. So boots are ideal for the stabled horse when his owner wants to go out for a hack. Of course the stabled horse that only ever works in a sand school will never need boots - or shoes!!

Why so many hoof boot designs? When you go to a sport´s shop for your shoes there are hundreds to choose from. Shoes for walking, running, jogging, football, tennis, cycling, mountaineering, basketball, the list is endless. Yet our feet are all the same are they not? OK, given a bunion or two!

Fundamentally all hooves are the same. But hooves suffering pathologies or going through transitions have different needs to a hoof at a healthy natural angle. Horses that trek out across mountainous terrain have different requirements from those that work in a sand school. Horses that race at high speed need something different to those that perform intricate, delicate dressage.

The brand new EQUINE FUSION DAMPENING PAD adds a new dimension to the expression ´pads´ and ´dampening´. The pad is designed with the same principles as the jogging shoe, with a special rubber compound which provides the very best properties. Extremely good memory and almost no deformation during usage. The superb flexibility, dampening and biomechanics properties makes this the best pad for both riding and rehabilitation. Suitable for both the Ultra and the Performance. The pad is sized the same as the jogging shoe. The manufacturer´s stand behind their claim that this will contribute to make the jogging shoe even better, for both riding on hard surfaces and rehabilitation of hooves. They are sold in pairs.
